Brand New Kenton Vineyard

At the beginning of May a new vineyard opened in Devon. Kenton Vineyard was planted in 2003 on a superb site for vinegrowing on the west side of the Exe Estuary, nestling in the foothills of the Haldon Hills.

The owner, Matthew Bernstein, trained in viticulture and winemaking on the renowned wine studies course at Plumpton College in Sussex for two years. His aim is to produce local wine of international quality.

The grape varieties grown and the methods used in the vineyard and winery all derive from his experience at Plumpton, and have been selected for their quality and suitability to local conditions. Kenton Vineyard grows all their own grapes and make their wines on site in their own winery. In this way they have total control over the product from vine to bottle and until the wine leaves the vineyard following purchase, there have been no “wine miles” traveled.
